One In The Spirit
A Period of Meditation and Prayer
I am asking the members and friends of Sylvania United Church of Christ to use the times on Sunday when we normally gather for worship, 8:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m., to gather in Spirit though we are absent one from another.
Please use the hour or a portion of the hour you normally attend worship and during this period pray for one another, particularly the most vulnerable, and beyond our church, pray for our community and the world, particularly those suffering with the Coronavirus and the caregivers.  During this period other practices might include:
*Read the Lectionary reading for Sunday:
John 9:1-41, Ps. 23, Eph. 5:8-14, I Sam. 16:1-13
Reflect on the phrase, “Thou art with me.”

*Practice a time of centering, of holy listening.
“Be still and know that I am God.”

*Listen to the Taize worship video prepared by Mary Meadows.

*Listen to the short video meditation I prepared and reflect on the phrase
“cosmic optimism and hope” and what that might mean in a time such as this.

*Write an email or note of encouragement to a church member.
And know that we are in the thoughts and prayers of one another, especially during that time when we would normally gather in worship - 8:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m.
