
We have two budgets at Sylvania UCC: one is for operating and one is for benevolence. The benevolence budget supports our outreach ministries to our community and beyond.
Who are our mission partners?
Through our benevolence budget, each of the following receives a percentage of our monies:
Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM) - This covers the missions and ministries we do together as a church beyond the local congregation.association, Ohio conference, national UCC and beyond.
CUE (Chicago, United and Eden Theological Seminaries) - A regional seminary support appeal for the three seminaries to strengthen program and reduce student costs.
Toledo Area Ministries (formerly Toledo Area Council of Churches) - Collectively congregations work together in Christ's mission.
House My People - This non-profit organization is funded by private donations and gifts from local church congregations. House My People enables needy families to stay in their homes when facing emergency situations. Help is offered by providing interest free loans up to $200.
Nu-Vizion UCC – A new church start in Toledo's central city. Nu-Vizion strives to meet the spiritual, physical, psychological, and social needs of the community. Their goal is: "Sharing hope, seeking healing, and building community."
Feed Your Neighbor - This all volunteer emergency food program gathers and distributes non-perishable food to 4,000 persons each month. There are 11 distribution centers in the Toledo area. Monetary and food donations are accepted.
TUCS (Toledo United Church Strategies) - Special funding of selected Toledo area service and community organizations by extra-mile benevolent giving on the part of U.C.C. Toledo area churches.
Grace Community Center - Helps Old West End residents with special programs, welfare services, educational services, counseling and referral. This community center has deep roots with the United Church of Christ.
St. Paul's Community Center - Located on 13th Street in Toledo, this center provides food, shelter, and counseling for the homeless of Toledo.
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity - A Christian organization of volunteers dedicated to laboring in partnership with others to provide home ownership of decent homes for low income families whom otherwise could not afford them.
Sylvania Area Family Services - Located in Sylvania, this social service agency has been serving our community since 1963. This center provides food, clothing, home items, referrals and assistance for those in need and a youth program.
