Sylvania United Church of Christ's Children's Ministry seeks:
to offer the opportunity to all who walk through our doors,
to know the scriptures,
to become articulate about faith,
and to see more clearly the relationship between God, the gospel, and our world.
With the direction and support of our Board of Christian Education, Sylvania UCC provides educational opportunities for all ages on Sunday mornings.
Children's Worship is offered for children Kindergarten - 6th grade. The children are dismissed from the sanctuary service to continue their worship on the ravine level. This time for the children includes the sharing of scripture, stories, and prayer through creative arts like drama, music, and active participation. Our preschool children have their own time of worship together exploring the Bible story for the morning through art, music, and stories. The UCC curriculums Seasons of the Spirit and Word Among Us are the resource used for this program.
Our Sunday School classes for children preschool - 6th grade occurs during our 9:20 educational hour. We utilize the workshop rotation material called Power Express in which the children focus upon a Bible story or theme for a period of 4-6 weeks. Each week the children learn about the theme through various modes of learning such as arts& crafts, games, storytelling, computer, science, food fabulous food, video, and music.
Each child receives a box of offering envelopes to use throughout the church year. Each week the children bring in their offering envelopes to our sanctuary service and participate in the offering with their entire church family. The children's offering is designated to various community, world and church needs.
