Sheila Banerji
Sheila began service with Sylvania UCC as Youth Ministry Coordinator in 2007. After a fun and full career as Faculty and Research Scientist of Biochemistry, Sheila decided to stay home and serve as general director and driver for her two children. She works part-time and enjoys reading, yoga, playing Frisbee with her Australian Shepherd, and thinking of interesting ways to use candy in Sunday school activities.
Duties include coordinating all aspects of meeting the vision of our Youth Ministry at Sylvania UCC to be a caring and respectful community where young people feel comfortable to bring their questions, share their gifts, and be treated as valued and active members.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Youth Ministry Council - Support and resource our Council in planning fellowship and service activities for our Youth. Recruit and train core group of Youth Advisors for mentoring relationship with Youth
- Youth Education - Consult with Pastors to choose and implement comprehensive and balanced educational opportunities for the youth. Lead, when necessary and train and recruit leaders for the classes
- TNT-Teens Networking Together - Advisor to our Youth Group which meets twice a month for community building activities and dinner.
- Provide leadership, outreach and mentoring opportunities for our Youth.
- Coordinate, plan and communicate with Pastors, Staff, church leadership and families all opportunities and issues concerning Youth
