Sharon McCord
Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education – University of Toledo
Sharon joined the staff here in August of 2009. Sharon retired from a career as an elementary teacher in the Washington Local Schools in 1999. Since then she has been an Orton-Gillingham tutor specializing in working with children who are dyslexic. She worked for many years as a volunteer at Point Place UCC. Sharon enjoys reading, quilting, crocheting, and playing games. She and her husband Bill are cat lovers and share their home with many rescue cats.
Responsibilities include:
- Plans, organizes, and evaluates all programs and events for the children of the church with the Board of Children’s Ministries.
- Recruits, trains, and provides support to all volunteers involved in the Children’s Ministry programs.
- Researches and provides extra resources when needed for the Children’s Ministry programs.
- Oversees the activities and performance of the nursery program with the Nursery Coordinator.
- Acts as a liaison between the church and the Stepping Stones Preschool.
- Provides care for the children when they are emotionally distressed.
